Aikoyori's Quick Guide to Installing Fabric Mods

Option One: Use Prism Launcher

  1. Download Prism Launcher[1] and install it.
  2. Open Prism Launcher. Proceed until it says anything about Java.
  3. Install the required version of Java for your chosen Minecraft version
    1. When choosing Minecraft version, it is important to check if the mod you want to play supports the Minecraft version you have selected
    2. As a rule of thumb, anything below 1.16.5 works with Java 8, 1.17 requires Java 16, 1.18 - 1.20.4 requires Java 17, and from 1.20.5 and beyond as of writing only works with Java 21.
    3. I personally recommended Eclipse Temurin aka. Adoptium as your Java distribution.
    4. After you installed Java and click Auto-Detect, it should detect the Java installation on your machine. Use that.
  4. Log in with your Microsoft Account
    1. When Prism Launcher opens, click on the top-right of the menu and click on Manage Accounts...
    2. Click on Add Microsoft and follow on-screen prompts until finished.
  5. Make a new instance by clicking on Add Instance button on the top-left
    1. When creating an instance, select the Fabric Loader version by clicking the Fabric radio button in the panel just below Minecraft version.
    2. After you are done picking Minecraft and mod loader version, click OK.
  6. Click on the Instance you just created, go to the right panel, and click Edit
  7. Go to the left panel in the newly opened Instance Settings and click on mods menu.
  8. Add mods to this window. This can be done with a drag-and-drop, the Add file button or the Download Mods button
    1. The Download Mods button allows you to download mods from online sources like Modrinth and CurseForge
    2. From here, you can download the mods you want to play along with their dependencies (if applicable)
  9. After you are done, click Launch.

Troubleshooting

Something tells me that I am missing fabric???
The mod actually requires Fabric API.

Notes

  1. It is possible to use MultiMC or anything similar as they have similar interfactes and functionality.
